Overview

The FASTR platform helps Ministries of Health turn routine health data into evidence they can act on. It takes the data countries already collect - monthly HMIS reporting and health facility assessments - and produces the figures, tables, maps, slide decks, and reports that teams need to monitor services, communicate results, and support decisions.

The platform is part of FASTR (Frequent Assessments and System Tools for Resilience), a Global Financing Facility (GFF) initiative that supports country-led efforts to improve the timely generation and use of data for decision-making. The analyses it runs follow the published FASTR methodology for monitoring reproductive, maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health and nutrition (RMNCAH-N) services using routine HMIS data.

What the platform does

Routine health data is valuable but rarely easy to work with. Reporting is incomplete, period formats vary, and turning raw exports into presentable figures takes time that programme teams don’t have. The FASTR platform brings the whole workflow into one place, so analyses that once took weeks of manual work can be refreshed each month in minutes.

Administrators set up the country’s structure - administrative areas, facilities, and indicators - and import HMIS and health facility assessment (HFA) data. Analytical modules then process that data using documented, reproducible methods, and users explore the results through visualizations and shareable outputs. In practice:

• Modules run the FASTR analyses - data quality assessment, service utilization trends, and coverage estimates - without anyone needing to write code
• Visualizations turn module outputs into charts, timeseries, maps, and tables that you can customize, filter, and export
• Dashboards assemble visualizations into live views that update as new data arrives
• Slide decks and reports package results into presentations and long-form documents with embedded figures, ready to share with stakeholders
• An AI assistant helps you interpret results, draft narrative content, and find your way around your data

The platform is available in English, French, and Portuguese.

How work is organized

Each country or organization has its own instance - a private space containing its data, users, and settings. Within an instance, work happens in projects: self-contained workspaces that scope a specific data window (a time period, set of areas, or group of indicators) and hold the modules, visualizations, and outputs built on it. This structure keeps analyses consistent - everything in a project draws on the same data - and lets administrators control who can access what.
